This is one of the biggest and most popular parades in the USA. It is organized in Washington D.C. by the American Veterans Centre. It will start off at Constitution Avenue and passes by museums, nation’s monuments and people who throng the side of roads with the USA flag in their hands.

National Memorial Day Concert

Among the most popular Memorial Day activities, the concert is organized at West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on the eve of the observance day. It starts at 8 PM. Admission to the show is open to all and you can enter into the premise after5 PM.

Brooklyn’s Memorial Day Parade

Among the oldest parades in the country the Brooklyn’s Memorial Day Parade begins at the Third Avenue and 87th Street. It is in its 147^thyear of existence in 2014. All war veterans are invited to participate in the march.

Other cities also host Memorial Day events to pay tribute to the heroes who have lost lives fighting from the nation’s cause.

Students Posters At Seymour Depict The True Memorial Day Facts

It is common knowledge that teachers in America do a lot to help students to understand the culture, traditions and history of the nation. It is however it is not often that students put these lessons in to practice for all to see. The students of Seymour did just that when more than 300 students came together to display a series of artworks to covey the true Memorial Day meaning.

Student Participation

This popular poster contest that kicked off in March saw more than 300 grade K-12 students take up paint brushes to convey by means of art what Memorial Day meant to them. All these posters are now on display at storefront windows featuring patriotic themes such as the Statue of liberty, gravestones, soldiers, the American Flag and other popular motifs.  

Public Participation

To make sure that these efforts don’t go unnoticed the general public is being encouraged to vote in favor of their favorite posters. Every poster is marked with a number to signify the school the artist studies at and these free for all student art galleries is big attraction amongst the locals. Residents unanimously agree that this effort will go a long way in promoting the true Memorial Day meaning.

Memorial Day weekend hotspot: ‘Movement Electronic Music Festival of Detroit’

Movement Electronic Music Festival’ to be held in Hart Plaza, Detroit, is a popular event. Since many tourists are estimated to be present at the venue, a mobile application has been launched to guide them.It can be downloaded free of cost on iTunes.
