How Eostre became Easter?

In the pre-Christian Germany, a Teutonic goddess Eostre was worshiped during spring after vernal equinox. Eostre was the goddess of fertility and birth. People used to observe customs and traditions with pomp and grand feast to please the deity so that they are blessed by her throughout the year.  When the Roman Catholicism became prominent in the 15 century, Eostre merged with the celebration of resurrection of Jesus. The festival came to be known as Easter in English.
